Heathcote Botanical Gardens began in 1985 as an effort to save an important green space in an area of increasing urbanization. This valuable foresight is especially appreciated today as our region continues to develop. The gardens have been refined over the years and continue to grow with expansion plans now on the horizon.

Savannas State Preserve

The preserve provides a glimpse of the largest remaining fresh water marsh on the east coast of Florida. It offers a multi-use trail for hiking, bicycling, and horseback riding. This area is ideal for wildlife viewing and anoeing. November through April interpretive activities, guided canoe and walking trips are conducted.

Jaycee Park South Ocean Drive & Melaleuca Drive, Ft Pierce Pavilions w/ 2 large grills (electricity is available), Playground, tennis courts, and basketball courts, volleyball pit with net and horseshoe pits. Boat ramp and swimming area.	Old Fort Park South Indian River Drive, 1 mile south of Downtown Fort Pierce. Historical site of the original Fort build in 1938 for expeditions to during the Second Seminole War. The part also contains an Indian burial ground.
Pinewod Park South U.S. #1 Hayes Road, Ft Pierce Large Pavilion with 4 picnic and grills. Wedding gazebo, restrooms, Playground and 2 tennis courts no equipment is provided.	Riverwalk Along the Indian River Lagoon on North Indian River Drive, behind Seven Gables House Visitor Center. Popular site for special events. No electricity. No restroom facilities.
Rotary Park (Kid’s crossing playground) South 23rd Street & Virginia Avenue Large Pavilion with double grill (Electricity is available) Covered picnic tables each with a small grill, gazebo South Indian River Drive & Avenue A at the round-about. Popular site for special functions such as weddings. Electricity is available. No restroom facility.
